What is a Music Score?


The dictionary definition states that a score is the musical notation in manuscript or printed form of a musical work. The scores being the vertical lines that separate each stave. Other words are used to describe a music score such as sheet music where the word - sheet - describes that it is a written form of music as opposed to a recording or broadcast. Common usage, depending where you live, includes - music notes - literally the individual notes for the piece of music. In France they use the word 'Partition de Musique' which is the same as a music score. If you play a guitar then you would call it tablature.
